These abstract wall art forms that you see here represent a new direction for me. These pieces are absolutely one of a kind and as far as I know, are a completely new innovation in the wood medium for any sort of wall art. I have wanted to create art for the wall for many years, but until now, I have not felt that any of my attempts were worthy of presentation to discerning collectors of fine art. I am finally ready to present my first offerings of wood turned wall art. If you are interested in owning a piece of wood turned wall art, I can custom design and create one for any space you have. I can use any number of wood species, with different color palettes to create an abstract pattern for a completely unique piece. Please contact me through the website if you would like to consider the purchase of a custom designed wall piece.
“Beguiling Ruin”
Spalted Hackberry.
“Beguiling Ruin”. $14,500. (SOLD).
Spalted Hackberry. Celtis occidentalis
This piece is the first piece of its kind. It measures 42” tall by 32” wide. The Spalting in this piece is absolutely stunning. It is composed of 11 separate turnings. Each piece is turned very thin and finished with epoxy resin. You can see in two of the larger pieces, splits that occured as the pieces were drying after being turned. Those splits are laced up with wax thread for a subtle effect. This piece sold at its first exhibition and is now installed in a gorgeous home in West Palm Beach, Florida.
“Symphony of the Trees”.
This abstract is composed of over 60 individual pieces from 11 different Species. Each species is found within the confines of the storied Central Park in New York City. The inspiration and title for this piece comes from arboreal science, which suggests that trees do indeed communicate, or sing to each other. As a long time lover of trees, this new information confirms something that I have long felt about the significance and symbolism of trees throughout many aspects of life.
