This species is highly sought after for furniture and musical instruments because of a rare growth pattern known as “fiddleback” that occurs more in this species of mahogany than in other types. While mahogany of this species are difficult to come by if grown in their native areas, this species has been transplanted and grows in areas where it is grown as a cash crop in many countries in southeast Asia.
