4” tall by 12.75” diameter. This species is among my favorites because of how different the pieces can look from one piece to the next. This particular bowl features the symbiotic work of the ambrosia beetle and the fungal spores that profit from its work. As the ambrosia beetle tunnels through the wood, the fungus that clings to its legs begin to colonize the tunnels and their presence creates the staining that you see in this piece. This piece also has a rim of charcoal pigmented epoxy resin with a dash of gold for effect. Lastly, notice the delicate foot that gives this bowl a lift towards your appreciation.
