This piece is absolutely spectacular. Silver Maple can often have wonderful patterns in the grain and is a species that spalts very well too, but this piece has so many cool features in the grain and the spalting pattern is far more interesting than most.Spalting is part of the decay process where fungal colonies move into the downed tree and work to decompose it to the dirt. I work to arrest their artistic work and preserve it for you to appreciate.
