This piece is spectacular. It offers such intricacy for one to examine. The grain of this piece has so much to offer, and the form also boasts a very interesting spalting pattern. Spalting is part of the decay process that happens most often when the tree is already on the ground and has been colonized by devouring fungal colonies that will return a tree to the dirt from which it came in just a few years. The Black lines you see in this piece is called zone line spalting. Ask me for more information about this interesting process.
