This piece measures 9.25” tall by 8” diameter.
This piece of Chesnutt Oak was moderately charred using the Japanese technique known as Shou sugi ban. You can still see some of the grain in this piece along with the charring. The piece reacts to the extreme heat of this process by cracking to some degree allowing further artistic flourish with the stitching that you can see near the bottom of this form.
